How to create and customize fill-in-the-blanks questions in Wooflash?
Fill-in-the-Blanks is a question type that allows your audience to complete a text by filling in the missing words. It is ideal for language, geography, or social science courses, for example.
This feature also allows you to anticipate several possible correct answers.
Creating a Fill-in-the-Blanks question
Enter your course and click on Create a question (or Create my first question if you haven't created one yet). Then, select the Fill in the Blanks question type under Questions.
Creating a Fill in the Blanks question using AI
You can also create your questions using Wooflash's AI. To do this, click on Generate questions with AI. Choose your source and Fill-in-the-Blanks as the question type. Our AI will create questions that you can modify or delete as you wish.
You can then generate more questions or add them to your course.
Importing questions
You can import questions from a file or from Wooclap, among other sources. This means you don't need to recreate all your questions from scratch.
Customizing your Fill-in-the-Blanks Text
Once your Fill-in-the-Blanks Text is created, you can start by writing your question (1). Then, enter the text to be filled in (2). You will also find the instructions for creating your text here:
A single word [[in square brackets]] is considered the sole and unique answer and is therefore replaced by a blank space. Indeed, in our example, there is only one possible correct answer for the first word: [[Stonewall]].
Two or more words separated by a comma are considered multiple possible correct answers and are therefore replaced by a single blank space. Indeed, for the second sentence, there are several possible correct answers: [[United States, USA, US]]. If one of these answers is written by the participant, the response will be considered correct.
You can define a {{Correct Answer, Incorrect Answer, Incorrect Answer}} between two curly braces. In this case, participants will be presented with a drop-down menu from which they can choose the correct answer.
An empty space between square brackets is not considered a correct answer, but an open-ended answer. The learner is then prompted to write a word that comes to mind, without there being a specific correct answer.
Finally, you can add optional feedback or additional explanations that will appear once the learners have answered the question (3).
You can format your text or insert audio, an image, or a video using the formatting bar that appears when you click on a field.
Under Options, you will see 4 additional options for your question:
Ignore case (uppercase and lowercase)
Ignore accents
Ignore punctuation
Add a tag to your question

Depending on the options chosen, learners will have to write an answer or choose an answer from the list. Once they have given their answer, learners can click on Answer to see the correct response as well as any feedback, if the question includes it.
