I’m a teacher — how do I use Exam Mode?

Discover how to turn your Wooflash courses into exams.

Updated this week

Creating an Exam on Wooflash

Wooflash’s Exam Mode allows you to turn a course into an official assessment. You can set a specific date and a time limit for your exam. This format lets you offer your learners a supervised and secure experience — for example, with a linear mode and the option to limit response time.

Turning a Wooflash Course into an Exam

Creating an exam on Wooflash is very simple: you just need to transform any course into an exam. You can do this from your course Settings. Once in the settings, select Exam Mode, and your course will be converted.

Next, set the duration of your exam by choosing the start and end date and time.
You can also set a duration in minutes for the exam. If you specify an exam duration, students’ exam sessions will be time-limited and cannot exceed either the set duration or the exam’s end time.

☝️ Concretely, if you don’t define a time limit, students can take the exam anytime between the start and end time without restriction. If, on the other hand, you set a time limit, the student’s timer will start once the exam begins. They can complete their exam within the defined duration or until the official end time, whichever comes first.

You can then save your exam. It will remain available for the duration you have set.

Exam Questions

Once your exam is created, you can determine how the questions will be presented.
You can do this in your exam Settings, under Exam Questions.

💡 You can combine these different options to customize the exam according to your needs.

By default, students can answer a question multiple times. Only their last validated answer will be counted.

Students can see which questions they’ve answered (marked with a purple airplane) and which they haven’t (marked with an orange symbol). This gives them a clear overview of their exam progress.

💡 If a student loses their internet connection or refreshes their page, Wooflash allows them to continue their exam with all previously entered answers intact. Responses are saved in our system each time the student validates them.

Linear Exam Mode

You can enable Linear Mode so questions appear one after another. In this mode, students cannot change their answers or go back once a question is answered.

To enable Linear Mode, go to your Settings, then Exam Questions, and activate the option Convert the exam to a linear mode which provides the questions one at a time and doesn't allow learners to change their answers.

Don’t forget to save your new settings.

Randomized Exam Questions

Would you like Wooflash to randomly select questions from your course? You can do this from your Settings.

Under Exam Questions, enable the option Provide the questions in random order.
You can then choose the number of questions per test. The exam questions will be randomly selected from the course for each student. This means that every student will have the same number of questions, but different ones chosen at random.

Don’t forget to save your new settings.

Viewing Answers and Corrections

You can allow learners to review their exam (answers and corrections) once it has ended for all students. To do so, enable the corresponding option in your Settings, under Exam Questions.

Don’t forget to save your new settings.

Testing the Exam

Once your exam is created and configured, you can test it. This allows you to see the questions from the student’s perspective.

Simply click Test the Exam and confirm that you want to take it to enter the student view. If you’ve already taken this exam before, you’ll see the answers you previously gave.

Sharing the Exam

You can share your exam just like any other course:

  • By sending a link to your students

  • By sharing the exam code

  • By inviting students via email

  • By sharing a QR code

You’ll find all these options under the Share button at the top right of your course.

Granting Extra Time

It’s not currently possible to set different exam times per student within the same exam. However, if some students require extra time, you can duplicate the exam and set a longer duration corresponding to their time allowance.

To duplicate your exam, open it, click the three dots (1) in the top right corner, then click Duplicate (2).

Once confirmed, your course will be duplicated, and you can adjust the settings for the new exam. Students requiring extra time will need to join this version of the exam using a different code.

Exam Results

You’ll find the exam results under the Exam Results tab (1).

There, you’ll see a list of participants, their exam status, and you can view each student’s responses (2). You can also download the exam results in Excel format (3).
